Juneteenth Celebration

June 19, 2024    5:30pm

Celebrate Juneteenth at City Springs! This year's annual free, family-friendly Juneteenth Celebration promises to be an exuberant tribute to freedom and liberty. Attendees can anticipate an extraordinary experience, as the Juneteenth Celebration will showcase a captivating performing arts production, a STEAM digital art gallery, educational activities, an array of food vendors, and more!

The event will feature three vibrant spaces: Byers Theatre, the Byers Theatre Lobby, and the City Green.

Byers Theatre - Namari Dance Center will produce and direct a high-quality stage program that tells the story of Juneteenth using dance, spoken word, and song. The production will begin at 5:30 p.m. sharp.

Byers Theatre Lobby - Sandy Springs collaborates with LIQUID Arts & Productions to present an immersive Art Exhibition and Experience, centered on the creativity of high school students from both Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. This event, in celebration of Juneteenth, will feature interactive digital artworks. Guided by the artistic vision of PeQue, these youth-produced canvas pieces will incorporate Augmented Reality, offering guests the opportunity to engage with innovative displays. Furthermore, the students will collectively work on a large mural-sized masterpiece, which will be highlighted as the exhibition’s centerpiece.

City Green - The outdoor festivities aim to provide an educational complement to the stage production and digital art gallery. Family-friendly activities will include Juneteenth trivia, West African drum circle, and more!
