City to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr with Video

The City of Sandy Springs' 15th annual celebration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy will take a digital form on January 18, 2021. Due to the ongoing efforts to mitigate COVID-19, the City will honor King with a video tribute.

"We are combating two pandemics: one related to the COVID outbreak: the other, the insidious disease of racism.  While a vaccine will help bring the coronavirus under control, we have work to do to eradicate racism in our society. The King Holiday serves as an opportunity to pause and remember King's guidance to talk and listen and learn from one another," said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul.

The video will be available on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at www.spr.gs/MLKDay and features beautiful and inspiring tributes from local children.

"The pandemic continues to affect traditional City events, but we are excited to utilize our digital presence in tribute of a hero and spread his message of hope and service to others," said Shaun Albrechtson, Executive Director of Create Sandy Springs.
