City Announces 2020 Sparkle Drive-Thru Parade

The City of Sandy Springs will continue its annual tradition of a holiday Sparkle Village on the City Green and has reimagined the 2020 Sparkle Parade as a drive-thru experience.

Festive twinkle lights will adorn the City Springs campus beginning the week of November 8, 2020, through the New Year. The interactive Sparkle Village that traditionally decorates the City Green, including Christmas tree and Menorah, will again be on display beginning Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020. The Sparkle Village features artfully displayed six-foot-tall wooden houses decorated in holiday themes by civic groups and local businesses and adorned with twinkling lights, creating a magical, walkable light display that visitors can stroll through throughout the season, providing countless photo opportunities.

Due to COVID safety guidelines, the annual Sparkle Parade has been reimagined as the Sparkle Drive-Thru Parade for 2020, and will be held on December 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

“Keeping the magic alive this holiday season for the children and families of Sandy Springs was very important to us, especially given the challenges of this year,” said Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul. “We are happy to be able to safely continue in what has become such a meaningful tradition for our residents, and we look forward to spreading holiday cheer.”

This year parade spectators will be the ones moving along the parade route, as parade floats will be set up ornamentally around the City Green, Galambos Way, and Mount Vernon Highway. Attendees will drive through a winter wonderland complete with snow, music, elves, and even a visit from Santa Claus himself!  This festive re-envisioning of the Sparkle Parade will provide an opportunity for the residents of Sandy Springs and surrounding areas to enjoy the event without having to worry about social distancing and crowds.

For travel and safety purposes, patrons will not be allowed to walk to or around the City Green during the parade, and it is recommended that all check for road closures in the area as part of the event.
