When the City incorporated in 2005, there was no central downtown area. In 2012, the community began a year-long journey of discovery consisting of small stakeholder group meetings, community-wide workshops and public forums to create the City Center Master Plan focused on three core objectives: enhancing quality of life; promoting economic development and strengthening a sense of community.
City Springs was envisioned as a place for community activity and identity, and its design as a gathering spot for business, commerce and residential contributes to that sense of place desired by the citizens of Sandy Springs.
Sandy Springs City Hall
City Springs will be home to the City’s civic offices. The new City Hall building will house City services such as construction permitting and business licencing. Break-out meeting spaces in the foyer will offer the perfect spot for community-members to hold impromptu meetings. For larger groups, meeting rooms will be available for rental. For those looking for an unconventional event space, the City View Terrace overlooking the City Green will offer you and your guests compelling views of City Springs and beyond.
Studio Theater and Meeting Space
The Sandy Springs City Council will host its meetings in the Studio Theater, a 5,000 sf open space that can be configured to also serve the community as meeting space, host small theatrical or musical performances, or accommodate corporate meetings and banquet-style events. The room will comfortably hold 250-300 people for a seated event. The facility will also feature outstanding acoustics, lighting and other technologies.
Performing Arts Center
The Performing Arts Center’s Byers Theatre will be interconnected with City Hall allowing shared catering with the Studio Theater. A full-service bar is also part of the civic floor space adjoining the PAC and Studio Theater.
Ample parking is planned with approximately 1,125 parking spaces on site. 750 of those will be in an underground parking deck. The deck’s entrance will be on Johnson Ferry Road and it will extend under City Green.
